Careful Structural Detailing

Our steel detailing office is located on the fabrication site allowing drawing changes to be immediate. Jensen Steel since 2008 models all fabrication assemblies with leading edge Tekla Structure software. Tekla Drawings are imported into the StruM.I.S management system for production and the relevant NC files directed to specialised Peddinghaus drill-line and plate machines.

Quality Fabrication

Jensen Steel values the knowledge of personnel to continually improve production times and production quality, and understands the need for significant investment in specialised machinery and industry training. All steel purchased is from approved steel mills only. Production starts in the pre-cut area, which boats a Peddinghaus PCD 1100 beamline, a Peddinghaus FDB1500 plate machine and three automated punch and crop machines. The three fabrication bays are over 55m in length and each bay has three 5 tonne gantry cranes.

Dedicated Shot Blasting and Coating Application

A dedicated Paint Shop and Blast Booth is a distinct advantage Jensen Steel has over the competition. The paint shop offers a huge spray area as well as an 18m long blast booth. This on-site facility gives Jensen Steel far greater control over the quality of coatings systems, in an area of the industry that has become increasingly stringent.

Quality Control and Traceability

Quality Assurance is becoming a very important part of the steel fabrication industry. Due to the investments made with systems, Jensen Steel is better place than most. StruM.I.S can provide the traceability down to the very last item if required. Jensen Steel has also just become ISO 3834 “Quality Requirements for Welding” accredited. Jensen Steel can proudly claim it holds ISO 3834  Construction Category 4. Construction Category 4 being the highest quality standard that can be reached under this is ISO Scheme, and was one of the first two companies in NZ to achieve this. This meaning our fabrication processes and systems are of the highest order.

Steel Erection

Jensen Steel can say proudly our very experienced site crews have worked around New Zealand and the world. All site crews have riggers, qualified welders, and crane operators. Alongside this the company has 14 JLG Booms, scissors, JCB’s, and 4 Cranes, all monitored by the Navman GPS systems. Our site personal who are prepared to travel means projects are completed on time and in budget.
