As seen on TV1 Robin Ratcliffe, specialist in building heavy transport trailers and owner of eight companies, sees his home overlooking the mighty Waikato River as a family heirloom. Robin chose Jensen Steel to provide the 500 tonnes of steel needed to satisfy both his structural and aesthetic design requirements.
The four main support structures are shaped to reflect the nearby Fairfield Bridge and each one weighs between 8 and 13 tonne. These were manufactured at Jensen Steel and lifted over the neighbour’s house by hydraulic trailer.
In keeping with the futurist theme of the home, the steelwork goes well beyond the ordinary, including concrete filled steel boxing.
